Orange Egypt has been honored with the prestigious “Telecom Review Leaders’ Summit” Award for 2024. The company was recognized as the Best Telecom Company for Corporate Social Responsibility in Africa, sharing the accolade with Sofrecom, a subsidiary of the Orange Group specializing in telecommunications consultancy.

The award reflects Orange Egypt’s pioneering efforts in aligning its operations with ambitious climate goals, including achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 a decade ahead of Europe’s target. The company’s innovative initiatives focus on sustainability, energy conservation, recycling, and solar energy adoption, as well as programs aimed at renewing outdated electronic devices.
Pioneering Efforts in Renewable Energy and Green Practices
In 2023, Orange Egypt successfully reduced its carbon emissions by 18%, driven by eco-friendly practices across its networks, data centers, and facilities. Notable achievements include installing solar panels in 150 sites, signing a landmark energy agreement with the New and Renewable Energy Authority, and launching the region’s first green telecom store in Sharm El Sheikh.

Further solidifying its leadership, Orange plays a key role in the SWITCH2CE project, a United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) initiative promoting a circular economy for electronic and electrical equipment.
18% Carbon Emission Reduction Achieved in 2023
This aligns with Egypt’s National Climate Change Strategy (NCCS 2050) and the Orange Group’s global sustainability roadmap. Through this initiative, Orange is empowering youth and technicians in the informal sector with recycling skills and innovative practices.
Orange Egypt’s CEO, Yasser Shaker, emphasized the company’s vision of harmonizing economic growth with environmental protection to ensure sustainability for future generations. Echoing this sentiment, Tania Asmar, Chief of Staff and Climate Officer, highlighted Orange’s strides in renewable energy, resource optimization, and promoting the circular economy.
