LG Electronics (LG) has officially opened the ThinQ API, its smart home platform’s Application Programming Interface, to enable developers to create advanced smart spaces using LG appliances.
New Platform for Developers
LG launched the LG Smart Solution API Developer website (smartsolution.developer.lge.com) to facilitate seamless integration between LG AI appliances and external software systems. The ThinQ API serves as a digital bridge that allows developers to exchange functions between software and LG devices, enhancing functionality and overall user experience.
Two Categories of ThinQ API
ThinQ API for Individuals
Enables remote control and monitoring of LG AI appliances registered in the LG ThinQ app through various smart home platforms.
For example, users of Home Assistant, a community-driven global smart home platform with over one million users, can now control 26 types of LG AI appliances, such as refrigerators and washing machines. This integration allows users to automate devices and expand functionalities within their smart homes.
ThinQ Business API for Enterprises
Designed for corporate partners managing residential or office buildings.
Supports integration of LG products, including appliances, HVAC systems, and signage, into existing building management apps.
Features include: Reservation systems for shared LG washers and dryers in common spaces.
Real-time alerts for abnormal conditions, such as detecting temperature or humidity issues via LG sensors.
