Egyptian Minister of Education Leads High-Level Delegation to the UK

The British Council hosted Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education, HE Mohamed Abdel Latif, alongside a high-profile delegation including Dr. Hanem Ahmed, Advisor to the Minister on Partnerships, for an official visit to the United Kingdom from 3rd to 5th February.

Enhancing Collaboration in Key Educational Areas

The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the UK in several key areas:

Curriculum reform

This engagement provided the Egyptian delegation with valuable insights into the UK’s education system, facilitating discussions with government officials, regulatory bodies, and leading educational institutions.

Mark Howard, Director of the British Council in Egypt, expressed his enthusiasm for the visit:

The visit commenced on 3rd February with a strategic meeting with the British Council leadership to explore cooperation in school education.

Additionally, the delegation met with Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills) to discuss:

The role of AI in tracking academic progress and curriculum implementation

This session was chaired by Sir Martyn Oliver, Chief Inspector of Ofsted, aligning with Egypt’s strategic goals to enhance its education system.

The discussions were reinforced by the presence of Egypt’s Ambassador to the UK, H.E. Ambassador Sherif Kamel, highlighting the diplomatic and educational significance of the visit.

Observing Inclusive Education at Mulberry Academy

The visit concluded on 5th February with a tour of Mulberry Academy, where the delegation observed inclusive education practices and explored best practices for enhancing Egypt’s approach to inclusion.
